Last Sunday we planted the early potatoes and with this, the spring season is getting into full swing. In the next few weeks we will be busy with planting onions, radishes, spinach and other vegetables. The garden is really beginning to take shape, most of the beds have been prepared and it is lovely to see yellow daffodils and red tulips in various corners of the garden.
If you feel like getting your hands into the soil, please come along, even if it is only for a short while. Any help is appreciated. We meet every Sunday from 12 to 4.
How do YOU imagine a healthy, sustainable and resilient future for Galway city?
It is time for you to have your say!
Come along to ‘Galway Visioning Day’ at Scoil Chroí Íosa, Newcastle Road anytime between 11am – 4:15pm on Saturday 6th April.
The aim of ‘Galway Visioning Day’ is to produce an action plan for a better Galway by 2030. The day will be an open, free event. Refreshments and live entertainment will be provided.
Everyone is invited to attend for as long as they wish to share their ideas at tables covering the topics such as energy; food and water; infrastructure; community and education; economics; and going beyond Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Other ideas and topics are also welcome.
Ideas generated at this event will inform a plan called an Energy Descent Action Plan (EDAP) for Galway. Similar plans have been produced for Kinsale, Co. Cork, Totnes in England and many other places around the world. This plan will be available on our website and copies will be printed for distribution to local public libraries and other appropriate places.
We believe that everyone has a role in shaping an exciting and inspiring future for Galway and welcome both big and small ideas. So why not take this opportunity to express the change you want to see for the future?

ABOUT THE GALWAY VISIONING DAY
With your help Transition Galway aim to produce a plan and vision to create a low carbon, sustainable Galway by 2030.
Everyone in Galway can contribute to and input their own vision for Galway during an open community visioning event that will take place between 11am and 4pm on Saturday April 6th.
Ideas generated on the day will be brought together into a single document. The vision will be freely available on our website and hard copies will be printed for local public libraries, schools etc. Similar plans have been produced for many other places around the world including Kinsale, Co. Cork and Totnes in England.
We welcome practical and creative ideas which will be brought together to produce a road map for a more abundant and fulfilling place to live.
Come along on Saturday 6th April, even for just a while!
