Brendan ‘Speedie’ Smith is the guest speaker at the March 2012 Green Drinks Galway. He will give an overview of his work as a community activist including on how to secure neighbourhood residents involvement into eco campaigns and about social inclusion.
This will take place at a venue to be confirmed (likely Kelly’s Bar, Bridge St.) on Thursday 1st March at 8pm. All are welcome!
Some of the campaigns that Brendan has been involved in include: Galway For a Safe Environment (stopping the construction of a incinerator in Galway); Student fees/third level access campaigns; digital inclusion; securing the development of urban forests & Terryland Forest Park; fighting against property speculators and urban sprawl; Absentee Landlords; Mens’ Shed movement/Cumann na bhFear; Ballinfoyle Mór Community Organic Garden; the preservation of local heritage (to name a few!).
